Our chapter wants make it known to students, even from different backgrounds, that they can contribute and pursue in energy development by engaging with communities that have a lack of energy accessibility and technologies, and provide them with energy solutions using different fields of perspective (e.g. engineering, natural sciences, economics, business, social sciences, etc.) Pursuing energy has been given a pre-conceived notion that it only applies to engineering studies but it is actually cross-disciplinary in order to achieve its development. Also, the University of the Philippines’ environment is not only to foster and develop the country’s brilliant minds with their academic or intellectual capabilities, its students are heavily driven by the phrase “Para sa Bayan” which means “For the People”. We acknowledge the economic and technological gap in the different communities that have been the building blocks of this country’s identity, and this shall also be our drive as well.
