Chapters

Student Energy Chapters are student-led, post-secondary hubs that take action on energy in their local communities, supported by skill-building and mentorship from Student Energy and collaboration with a global network of Chapters.

Program Overview

Student Energy (SE)  is a global youth-led organization that empowers young people to accelerate the energy transition through developing programs geared towards community building, energy education, capacity building, and creating spaces for youth to shape their energy future. Student Energy Chapters is an opportunity for students to establish a local branch of the organization on their post-secondary campus as a club or partnership society.

The SE Chapters program was created to unite youth within local contexts, as well as across the globe, and build long-lasting communities that facilitate meaningful youth engagement. It provides students with the tools and resources to take charge of sustainable energy initiatives for their communities. By leveraging our organizational brand and knowledge, we empower students to become energy leaders and drive change on a local and global level.

Our Chapters program offers a unique opportunity for post-secondary students to build lasting communities and drive impact that extends beyond their time in school, empowering newer generations of passionate students and leaders. Our program emphasizes the development of leadership through direct mentorship on soft skill development from SE staff and alumni, as well as the cultivation of a global network of like-minded peers. By joining our Chapters program, youth will be part of a community that fosters leadership development, promotes sustainability, and creates a positive impact on our energy future.

Expectations & Time Commitments

Running a chapter demands commitment in terms of participation and time, with the number of hours varying depending on your planned activities and objectives. In general, there are a number of activities that will require your active participation to ensure you get the full benefits of the program and set up your chapter for success:

Building Campus Presence

Establishing a strong campus community and enhancing your club’s presence is vital for a thriving university club. This involves connecting with potential members, forging partnerships, organizing events, and generating engaging content on social media.

Recruitment

Actively recruiting for your chapter is essential for creating a sustainable and engaging group. Engage with students and promote your chapter in informative and captivating ways. Ultimately, your chapter should be a fun and welcoming environment where members collaborate with friends and peers on issues they’re passionate about.

Membership and Team Maintenance

Regularly check in with your executive team, members, committees, and volunteers to ensure collaborative progress towards both the chapter’s goals and each individual’s personal objectives.

Monthly Chapter Check-in

A mandatory meeting with your assigned SE Chapters Coach, who serves as a mentor and valuable resource. These check-ins provide an opportunity to address questions, concerns, or requests for assistance, with guidance on topics ranging from event planning to strategic partnership. These meetings keep your chapter accountable, motivated, and well-supported.

Submitting Monthly Reports

As a compulsory aspect of the Student Energy Chapters program, chapters must submit monthly reports detailing their activities and projects. These reports enable us to gauge and showcase your chapter’s impact, celebrate successes, and identify trends to better support the Global Chapters Network.

Global and Regional Calls

Student Energy organizes monthly calls to facilitate cross-chapters collaboration and networking for an hour. While attendance isn’t mandatory, it is strongly encouraged, as these calls keep you informed about Student Energy events, opportunities, and news, and often provide valuable learning experiences and networking opportunities.
