Join corporate and youth leaders from Canada to discuss questions crucial to attaining a sustainable, prosperous, and socially just future.

Background: Read this short self-assessment document (https://tinyurl.com/challengecanada) that includes questions that young leaders feel are under-discussed in the corporate sustainability world, but are crucial to attaining a sustainable, prosperous, and socially just future within a generation. It was created by 20 youth organizations representing over 200 young leaders from across Canada.

REN21 Internship Opportunity

REN21 is seeking an intern to support the production process and launch of the second edition of the Renewables in Cities Global Status Report, which is a new product series, highlighting the role of cities in the energy transition.

The internship lasts six months and is paid. Candidate should be available to start in February/March 2021 and must be a recent graduate, currently a student or in between university degrees.

Indigenous Participation in Canada’s Energy Transition

The panel is part of Canada’s Future Energy Pathways Series. It will focus on the role of Indigenous communities and stakeholders in Canada’s energy transition, with a specific focus on advancing their participation in Canada’s energy future.

It will feature three experts from across the Indigenous energy landscape. Topics for discussion will include: the unique challenges and opportunities for Indigenous communities in Canada’s energy economy, the partnerships that are necessary to forward an inclusive energy agenda, and the steps that must be taken to ensure the meaningful involvement of Indigenous groups in Canada’s transition to a low carbon future.

Climate Ambition Summit 2020

The Climate Ambition Summit will include speeches from co-hosts and partners – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, French President Emmanuel Macron, Chilean President Sebastián Piñera, and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte – along with statements from other Heads of State and Government and non-state actors setting out new and ambitious climate change commitments, and past and present COP Presidents setting out the pathway to a successful COP26 in Glasgow in 2021.

Youth Shaping the Climate Pact 

The European Commission will hold the ClimatePact Launch Event, and it is crucial that the youth voice is meaningfully represented. In our interactive event focusing on the energy sector, you will generate new ideas on involving youth in the Climate Pact, hear success stories from youth engagement experts such as Helen Watts (Student Energy), Helena Nepp (European Youth Parliament (EYP)) and Marco Costa (CommUnity by EIT InnoEnerg) and participate in a dialogue with Ditte Juul-Jørgensen, Director-General at the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission.

Efficiency Canada Regional Champion Program

They are looking for applicants from across Canada to represent their province/territory as a champion for energy efficiency. Champions meet each month to work together on projects to advocate for and advance energy efficiency. All kinds of skills are welcomed – event planning, outreach, writing, policy work, and more. There will be professional development opportunities, funding for activities, and insider updates with Efficiency Canada.

 Avatar Program

The Avatar Program is a professional development platform for emerging energy talent; designed, coordinated and led by emerging energy leaders. The program is built for cross industry collaboration and connection, to empower young professionals, to give them a voice and lead change from the bottom up.

Avatar was brought together by young professionals and is presented in partnership with the Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC), Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) and Young Women in Energy (YWE).
