Rise Up Pitch Competition

Women entrepreneurs face structural barriers to entrepreneurship, and Black women entrepreneurs have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. This new award program is an opportunity for Black women entrepreneurs to receive support and potential funding to grow their businesses, while recognizing the African, Caribbean and Black Women Entrepreneurs who have persevered with innovative business ideas despite the challenges of recent months.

Applications from Black women at all stages of their entrepreneurial journey are encouraged, and will be provided with opportunities to develop skills, build networks and get the support they need to succeed.

2021 Indigenous Clean Energy & SevenGen Hack-A-Thon

Indigenous Clean Energy and SevenGen are excited to be hosting our first ever Hack-a-Thon for Indigenous youth ages 18-30 across Turtle Island to compete on a case about Accelerating Electric Vehicles in Indigenous Communities. You can register with a team of 2-4 people or you can register as an individual and be added to a team of other individuals before the competition. This competition is for any eligible participant with any level of background on the topic. The case will be sent to the teams on Monday, January 18 and from there teams are welcome to get started. This a very independent competition and teams will be expected to work on their presentations on their own time coordinated with their team.

From Ideas to Action: Using end-user subsidies to achieve universal energy access

This event will explore the ‘smart’ design of end-user subsidies to address this complexity and uncover solutions. It will have a particular focus on stand alone solar technologies.

At the event, participants will:

  • Join energy access experts as they explore how end-user subsidies can fit within the ‘tool-kit’ of public financing solutions to achieve universal energy access
  • Share their own experience and insights around end-user subsidy design challenges in the off-grid solar standalone space and ‘smart’ solutions
  • Learn from, and participate in the design of, four pilot standalone solar end-user subsidy country programs
  • Identify clear next steps to advance clean energy access for hundreds of millions of people living in energy poverty

McGill Sustainable Energy Week

Each year, the Student Energy Chapter at McGill University will hold a McGill Sustainable Energy Week related to a topical sustainable energy aspect. The theme of this year’s SE Week is Project Design in Sustainable Energy. The summit will provide a platform and opportunity for students to gain skills and knowledge on various sustainable energy-related topics and benefit them in their future career path. The summit will consist of 3 main types of events: webinars/workshops, panels and networking events.
