Sam Casey (she/her) is Student Energy’s Partnerships Coordinator. She supports the partnerships portfolio in resourcing the needs of our programs and operations and building alliances with key actors in the climate and energy space that contribute to Student Energy’s mission.
She is also a proud alumna of SE’s Fellowship program, which, through completing, deepened her interest and passion for accelerating a sustainable, equitable energy transition.
Holding an Honours BA in Environmental Governance from the University of Guelph, Sam possesses a nuanced understanding of the critical need for inclusive and effective governance systems to address the escalating triple planetary crisis.
For the last five years, Sam worked to advance campus sustainability initiatives at the University of Guelph. Her work encompassed co-designing and implementing numerous student-led projects, campaigns, and partnerships that drove meaningful action for sustainability on campus and in the community.
Sam’s passion for youth empowerment, climate action, and placemaking can be seen in through her community involvement. She co-founded the Community Climate Council, an organization dedicated to climate justice in Peel Region, Ontario. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a board member for the Guelph Climate Action Network and Guelph Tool Library, working to further local sustainability initiatives.
Outside work, Sam enjoys caring for her native plant garden, fostering dogs, and exploring local maker markets.
