Participating in the Career Training Program has been a valuable experience in shaping my journey towards becoming an Energy Engineer. My background is in Chemical Process Engineering, and I am currently working in the mining industry as a Metallurgist, and this program has helped me better connect my technical work in industrial processes with my long-term goal of contributing to sustainable energy systems and plant designs. The training strengthened my understanding of how engineering solutions can address both environmental challenges and social development needs, particularly in areas such as energy access and education equity. Through my practicum project on school electrification and educational outcomes, I gained deeper insight into how reliable energy access can influence learning opportunities, especially for girls in rural and underserved communities. This reinforced my passion for designing energy solutions that go beyond efficiency targets to create real social impact. The mentorship, practical learning, and interdisciplinary focus of the program have improved my confidence, communication, and ability to think strategically about my career path. I am especially motivated to continue building experience in sustainable engineering, energy transition technologies, and design-focused engineering roles. This program has played an important role in supporting my development as an engineer who aims to contribute to Africa’s sustainable energy future.”
